Irrigation Control via HAI

Sun Nov 07, 2010 9:04 am

Dave;
Just re-kindeling this one. Any chance that you could take a look at MLIrrigation and allow the generic irrigation module (or a new specific HAI module) the ability to send commands? If it was slightly modified to not require a serial port connection and just send commands, then the irrigation module could be integrated with HAI. Many use the outputs of HAI via connected relays to control irrigation.

While I can control the outputs via MLS, and integrate MLSchedule, and MLTImer along with scripting and so on, it would be nice to use the more advanced features of the irrigation package.
Thanks

When I rewrite Irrigation to be compatible with MLServer 4 I will make this work. It's a major change and if I'm going to make that big of a change I might as well hold it off for the V4 updates. Since this response will immediately be followed by a when will we see MLServer 4 question I'll say watch the forum for an announcement within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Dave, appreciate the reply. I do agree that you are to close to the next major release to do a quick fix now. Just please keep this one on the list after the flurry of the new release settles down.

Dave - Now that the V4 HAI is out and seems to be great, what are the chances of you bringing the Irrigation Family up to V4 and allowing HAI, ELK and others to serve as relay sources for irrigation. Just thought I would bring this topic back to the top.
Thanks

That is already in the works. The next major V4 app to be released will be Irrigation. When V4 Irrigation is released it will use devices that are members of the Control family. The Control Family is comprised of devices that primarily drive relays and timers. HAI, Elk, Global Cache, Rain8 are some of the drivers that will be members of the Control Family.

I was curious if this ever happened. I too will use my HAI panel to control my irrigation.
Live long and prosper.

I might add that it works very well. I have been using it all season with only minor issues that have all since been resolved. Let me know if you need any pointers.
