Re: What IP Cameras are you using?

Wed Mar 13, 2013 7:53 am

Looking to buy a few Cameras and I have read this thread. I think, but could be convinced otherwise, that I'm leaning towards analog cameras. I prefer hard wired cameras and so for IP cameras I would have to run Cat5 and figure out how to do POE or for the Analog cameras, I can would run the video cable and power cable combined....I want to be able to accomplish the following:

1. Have the Camera detect motion and then trigger a variable in Mainlobby so that I can have lights turn on etc.
2. Be able to view the live camera feed in Mainlobby
3. View the Camera's from Iphone (which seems pretty common these days)

Looks like there are a bunch of low cost kits here:
http://www.zmodo.com/complete-security- ... ystem.html

This thread indicates that analog cameras can be integrated with Mainlobby using Geovision. I'm not familiar with Geovision and I'm guessing that these Camera's do not have Geovision software? Also, does the Geovision software only allow for viewing of the video, or would Mainlobby still get variable updates upon motion detection?

I would appreciate any thoughts as to which products would best accomplish the two goals above. :) Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave, things are going really good with the new MainLobby Web Designer (V5). So I now want to update my old cameras. I want to get the Foscom cameras from the UK, are the ones I've listed ok with mainlobby. The Foscam FI9802W and Foscam FI9821W both have sound to so can that be integrated into mainlobby as well.

Foscam FI9802W Megapixel Outdoor Wireless IP Camera
Foscam FI9821W (White) 720p Megapixel H.264 Wireless N IP Camera
Foscam FI8620 Wired H.264 Zoom IP Camera

I'm pretty sure you'll get the audio feed when playing the URL on a web app. The Flash MainLobby client does not have the necessary codecs to process the audio stream.

And will MainLobby for Android Tablets be able to handle the PTZ on these two Foscam cameras ok.

Foscam FI9821W (White) 720p Megapixel H.264 Wireless N IP Camera
Foscam FI8620 Wired H.264 Zoom IP Camera

Yes - I have a slightly older Foscam camera and PTZ is working fine.

So am I right in thinking that any modern IP PTZ camera will work, and do they all have a standard way of being controlled.

Has anyone been able to incorporate a GeoVision (GV-1480) 16 camera card into a Scene (Scene Designer for Mobile Devices)? I had it working in V3, but not V4. I suspect it has to do with the lack of Active X support in Apple products.

Thanks,

Todd

Geovision does expose urls so you can get the direct feeds from the cameras. Here's a website that shows some examples.

I have a couple of Axis cameras, and these are working nicely with MainLobby. I recently bought two Foscam cameras (model FI9805E). But I can't seem to get them working with MainLobby. These are new H.264 "wired" cameras.

I have entered the IP address, port number, information correctly in the Foscam driver.
In the MLWeb Window (WebLobby button) , I enter the command "http://192.168.1.xxx:portnumber/videostream.cgi?user=userbame&pwd=password" - however I can't seem to get a live feed.

The weblobby button keeps reverting back to the Cinemar URL.

Are these cameras supported (I really hope so)? I tried both Foscam as well as Generic IP Driver - but no luck.

Thanks in advance

Can anyone help please. I have double and triple checked all the settings, and seem to be fine. I can see the live image on web browser - chrome, IE Explorer etc by typing the IP address and port (192.168.1.xxx:yy).

I am seeing the following error message in the driver log.

"Snapshot - Timed out trying to update the image"

Thanks

Are you using the MainLobby Flash client? If yes then there is a high probability that the camera is broadcasting a feed that cannot be consumed by MLWebLobby because it is using Internet Explorer 6 as its web engine. This cannot be upgraded. Can you see the static jpeg image refresh when the image is set to reload?

The URL won't save because of the & in the URL string. Put that URL into a server variable and then reference the server variable as the web page url.

I think those cameras also output a mjpeg stream and that one might be viewable in WebLobby.

Try some of the various URLs listed here.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the response...really appreciate the help.

Yes, I am using the MainLobby Flash Client on my Windows client. I can't see any image in the ML client - either in any button or weblobby buttons.

As for the MJPEG stream, it is not stated in the specifications. So I called Foscam tech support (BTW - quite pathetic they are)...The tech support guy told me that the MJPEG stream can be supported by "running a script" which they will email to me (whatever that means - I don't have a good feeling about it). So I am waiting for the email.

I will try some of the other URLs you listed, and report back the progress.

Any other suggestions?
