HAI 3.0

Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:46 am

Well the day has arrived. My 3.0 chip arrived on Tuesday. I will carefully do my upgrade this weekend and will post my progress. Prior to doing anything on the Cinemar end, I am going to be sure that the panel is stable. This is a major update and some of my panel programming will need to change. Once stable, then I will be ready for the Cinemar end.

Dave, I hope you will have some time to work on it with me.
Thanks

Dave, can you get the new protocol specs from HAI? I'll try my sources too.

Dave;
Well great news so far in my testing. 3.0 is installed in my Omni Pro II. All is working great with the panel. All is also working great with the existing serial connection to the panel via the current version of the plug-in. Time outs are very minimal and always seem to self correct. I am still doing the every hour Agent restart, but I am turning that off tonight as a test. I will post the results.

Look for an email later. I have all the documentation and the protocol for serial. The TCP protocal and kit will be out in 4 weeks. See this note from the developer site;

Note that a new HAI Network Protocol Library API Kit will be released by mid-February 2009. It will include a new DLL with the Omni-Link II protocol and should make .NET programming much easier.

I have not attempted TCP communications yet due to the driver restrictions that I know exist.

I will report back after a day or two of more testing. I must say that communications are MUCH faster. I nearly instantaneously see my motion detectors as they go on and off.

Not bad since I did not think that it was going to work at all with the current version of the driver.
Thanks

Very good news. HAI is sending me a new 3.0 ROM for my OmniII. A long time coming but things may start falling into place now.

Dave;
I am assuming that you got the .net SDK and related documentation?

Get music Lobby done so you can get back to the fun stuff..

Just think how much more satisfying it will be to knock 6 or 8 things off the list in a week!!

Keep up the good work.

:D
