Load UPE File

Thu Feb 15, 2007 12:36 am

I'm unable to load my UPE File in the MLLighting Plugin.

Fresh install of MLServer (3.0.232)
Fresh install of MLLighting Plugin (1.0.710)
Fresh install of the latest UPB driver (the one released today)
Fresh working export of file from UpStart
PIM is connecting fine.

The plugin seems to hang loading the file. No error messages.

Any special tricks I can try? (or other information I can provide you?)

Thanks.

Hi Madge,

Can you send me the UPE file?

Hi Madge,

Try redownloading and installing the UPB driver.

We think one of your devices was not responding at the time of importing, which caused it to hang. Now it will timeout and continue with the process.

Yes, that seems to have been the problem.

The file is starting to load now, but there are actually 3 devices that will be missing (for now). So, with the latest UPB driver, it appears to not hang when it encounters the first missing device, but then hangs when it gets to the second missing device.

Do you see that same problem?

Madge,

We were able to get through your entire UPE file - which means we didn't have any of the devices you do. So it shouldn't hang. Can you try again?

I tried again, first deleting the mdb, unregistering and deleting dlls, reinstalling both the MLLighting plugin and the UPB driver.

It hangs at the same spot, after reading in Light #3. All the groups from the UPE file are showing up just fine though.

Restarted MLServer just to see if the screen was freezing and the lights were really being read. Nada.

Anything else I should clear out and re-install that might be interferring??

Error loading upe file

Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:26 am

We have posted an update that will allow users to save the results of the loading to a file. This should point us in the right direction to solve the problem.

If you could make sure that you have no lights or goups added and attempt to load the upe file again. You should get a prompt asking to save the results, just save the results to a file and post the file for us to review.

Is this update available through the User Login area? I just downloaded what was there and installed it (after deleting my MLLighting mdb and reinstalling the MLLighting plugin).

Upon loading the UPE file, I got stuck again after device 3, but didn't get the prompt to save the file.

Did I pick up the right UPB driver?

Hi Madge,

Yes - the file under your login should be the latest.

Can you try removing device 3 using UPStart? Then try importing the UPE file again.

OK, I removed Light #3 in Upstart, exported the new file, deleted the mdb, reinstalled everything....

and it still hangs after loading Light #3, the new Light #3...
and no prompt to save the file...

???

Error loading upe file

Fri Feb 16, 2007 3:59 pm

Ok, lets try again. We are posting a new version that forces all activity in the PIMM to a log file. Please try loading the upe file again and then post the log that is located at:

C:\Program Files\MLServer|UPBController_1.log

Also please make sure that you have the following files and the correct versions:

MLServer\plugins\MLLighting.dll 1.0.0.718
MLServer\plugins\MLLighting\UPBController.dll 1.0.0.423
MLServer\plugins\MLLighting\UPBLightControl.dll 1.0.0.195
MLServer\plugins\MLLighting\MLLightingFamilyProperties.dll 1.1.0.26

Here's the UPB Controller log.

I have all the file versions you cited, except for MLLighting.dll. My version is 1.0.0.710 (just downloaded again off the website a few minutes ago...how do I get ahold of 718?)

Yes, for the UPB drivers. MLLighting does not show up in the user login area. Because it's free? The download is on the website though.
