I can't disconnect all clients, because the point of the app is to issue commands to clients and initiate playback of media on those clients. That's not working right now, errors are generated. Play/Pause works when something is already playing but nothing else.
Yes, the Plex App is running, that's what's generating the errors.
I see the question of Plex vs. myMovies as a whole separate topic. I've been using Plex for Movies, TV Shows, Music, and Photos for a while now. I haven't tried myMovies. A part of why I don't use it is because Plex has worked well for me and I don't have a 100% clear picture about how myMovies would work. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
- Device Support: Plex has client apps for all major devices. I use Tivo and FireTV devices throughout and house and they support Plex natively. I'm a little fuzzy on how the content from myMovies actually gets played. Does a PC need to be connected to each TV, can the content be played back on iPads? Can content be played back from outside the home? Does it use DLNA to stream to devices? Are other family licenses required to use that functionality in addition to the App licenses?
- Amazon Echo Support: Plex has an Alexa skill that allows playback of music and issuing commands to clients. I haven't started using this yet but I have Echo's everywhere and I plan to start.
- Cost: I don't need any of the Plex Pass features, so I only pay a couple bucks for each of the client apps one time, say $20 total. myMovies is relatively expensive to provide the same functionality. myMusic, myPhotos, and myMovies would total $310.
- Off the Shelf: Plex focuses on one thing and does it very well out of the box with very little fuss. Plex has a very large install base with a very large support community. Allonis does a lot of things very well but, because Allonis is a small company, support can be limited. I don't mean that as a criticism, just my preference for more "off-the-shelf" stuff when possible to help keep the WAF high.
