The PKNight Art-Net DMX controller has proven to be an inexpensive way to control DMX systems.
General connections:
myServer 6 controller running ARTNetDMX driver <> Ethernet <> PKNight ArtNet / DMX controller <> 3 pin DMX cable <> DMX / RGB controller > RGB light (or other).
The lighting power supply connects to the DMX / RGB controller.
The PKNight ArtNet / DMX controller is plugged into a USB-C power supply.
Installation:
plug the DMX controller into a 3 pin DMX cable that is known to be wired correctly pin for pin to the DMX network. Ensure there is a termination device at the other end of the DMX network.
Power the PKNight device via a USB-C cable to a power supply. The power supply should be plugged into the system's UPS power supply.
Device type should be "Lighting".
Networking:
Connect the ethernet cable to the "Control Network" ethernet switch This is the network that myServer 6 is also on.
Clicking any button on the PKNight will illuminate the setup screen.
Navigate the list using the left most button.
Edit the IP address by clicking the right button to select the digit to update. Then use the Up / Down buttons to increment / decrement the value. Hit the right button to save those settings. Note, the IP address must be static set so it never changes. Ensure there are no other devices on the network with same IP address.
Edit the Gateway to correspond with same settings on the "Control Network".
For DMX Universe "1", here are the correct settings:
Port Universe Out 1: 00 NOTE...this is for Universe 1 (not zero)
Port Net Net: 000
Transmit mode: ArtNet > DMX
MAC: what it says
Version: 2.5 tested
Default: NO (set this to YES if you want to go back to default settings)
Click and HOLD the right most button to save all changes.
The Art-Net driver will auto discover the device on the network.
