Yes the Frame TV is a problem child. We've had customers switch to serial control of them because of control issues. However I would have expected to see an error message coming back from the TV if it rejected the command.

Make one more test for me. Update to the driver I just released. I've added a bit more logging. Then run the same GetApps with verbose logging turned on. I'm expecting to see something like the following. TX and RX messages or error messages saying why it could not do it.

Interesting that it's throwing an auth error here, as I mentioned earlier, I'm able to use Tizen to control the TV in other ways (power on/off, mute, etc)

Thanks for the note about Serial control. I'll do some research on RS232 control on SamsungFrame. Looks like Global Cache sells an IP2SL device that I will take a look at.

After doing a fair amount of reading, I am going to go the RS232 route. My goal at this point is less about launching an app-- not seeing a documented way to do that. It's more about having reliable control over art mode to drive an automation that automatically turns the TV on in art mode each morning. Possibly also using RS232 to control the TV instead of IP if it reduces latency. If I'm successful in these endeavors, I'll post a new thread
