Network 24 / 48 Port 10G L3 Managed Switch (Rack)

Allonis recommends this switch to be used with Allonis's 925 series Video Over IP distribution matrix.

Default IP = 192.168.1.200

Default user ID / password = admin / admin

IPM-MANAGER-4800S series 10G uplink three-layer network managed PoE switch, equipped with 48 Gigabit network ports plus 4 10G uplink SFP+ optical port slots, of which ports 1-48 support IEEE 802.3af/at standard PoE power supply, and the single-port PoE power reaches 30W. IPM-MANAGER-4800 service ports support 4KV electrostatic lightning protection.  As a PoE power supply device, it can automatically detect and identify powered devices that meet standards and power them through network cables. It can supply power to POE terminal equipment such as wireless AP, network camera, Internet phone, building visual access control intercom, etc. through the network cable. It meets the network environment that requires a high-density PoE power supply and is suitable for hotels, campuses, parks, supermarkets, banks, scenic spots, factorydormitories, and SMB small and medium-sized enterprises to build cost-effective networks.

  • Single-port PoE power up to 30W, if/at adaptive, widely compatible with various network terminals, supports PoE network management, remote POE port restart, and real-time power status viewing.
  • 4 optical ports uplink port, Optical fiber long-distance transmission, adapt to various ring network/chain network cascading and expansion make networking easier.
  • Full Gigabit high-speed transmission, 10 Gigabit bandwidth uplink, high-bandwidth transmission is stable and guaranteed, supports per-port rate and flow control, and achieves 10M/250 meters long-distance transmission, easily solving long-distance communication and power supply problems, to meet different user needs.
  • Enterprise-level high-bandwidth switching chips, high backplane, and large cache, reduce network congestion.
  • Supports automatic learning and updating of MAC addresses, and automatic port flip(Auto MDI/MDI-X) function.
  • The service port supports 4KV anti-surge (lightning protection) protection, PoEshort circuit and overload protection, making it safer and more secure to use.;
  • Fine steel forged metal shell, shielding interference, strong heat dissipation, strong, rust-proof and more durable;

 Installation

For Video over IP and / or Audio over IP systems

VoIP and AoIP both should have their respective devices on their own VLAN.  This is to allow for optimization of data packets so the video / audio system has high performance.

Configure network switch IP:  Put a laptop on the same physical network as the L3 ethernet network switch.  Create a second IP for the laptop at "192.168.1.10 / 192.168.1.1 gateway".  Once on that network, in a browser type http://192.168.1.200  Login is admin, password is also admin.  Recommended to not change the credentials until Allonis is done configuring the system.  If the credentials are changed for security, certainly document those new names.  Recommended is to update that in the Allonis configuration spreadsheet.

Change the Network switch IP address:

 From the left navigation - click on Routing.  Click on VLAN1.  Click Edit.  Type the correct final IP address and Network Mask address.  Ensure this IP is not being used by another device (IP conflict).  Click Apply.

Once the switch has rebooted - setup the VLan(s)

You should now in a browser be able to access the Network Switch from it's new IP address.  Login.

Click VLAN on the left navigation.  Click on Create VLAN.   Select "VLAN 2" and click the right arrow.  Do that for the quantity of VLANs required (one for the video, a second for the audio, a third for the "control network".)

Edit each VLAN name by selecting the VLAN 2 and clicking Edit.  Edit the name and Apply.  Allonis uses "VoIP" and "AES67" names for their respective capability.

Do this for each VLAN required.

Assign a network address to each VLAN:

Click on Routing.  Click on IPv4.  Assign an IP for that new VLAN network - note this should be different than all other VLANs.

Assign ports to each VLAN:

Document which type of device is physically connected to which port on the Ethernet switch

On the vertical menu, click VLAN / Membership.  For each port, select the port from the list, and click the EDIT button (bottom of list). Assign that port to the correct VLAN listed.  Click Apply.  Continue until all ports are assigned to their respective VLANs.

 A "tagged VLAN" refers to a network segment where traffic is labeled with a VLAN tag, allowing a single physical cable to carry traffic from multiple VLANs, while an "untagged VLAN" has no VLAN tag, meaning a switch port is dedicated to only one VLAN and devices connected to it are unaware of any VLAN configuration; essentially, tagged VLANs offer more flexibility and security by separating traffic based on tags, while untagged VLANs are simpler for smaller networks where all devices on a port belong to the same VLAN.

Now that the VLAN IP network is configured, if you are using VideoOverIP 925/935, then do a OSD command which puts the Receivers's IP and MAC address onscreen on the TV.  Map that to the TV ID in the Allonis spreadsheet.
