We start by making sure we have all the drivers and latest software components installed.
Ensure device to be discovered are properly on the network, and turned On. Enable "External Control" to ensure it's communication port is open on the network.
Within the Dashboard, click on Reporting / Device Inventory.
You can select "House" to discover devices on the myServer controller's ethernet network (typical situation). Then click "Discover". In about 5 minutes, you should see a list of all of the devices that are currently on your network, and myServer's best guess of the type of device. You can select a found device from the list, and if you agree with the guess of the type of device, and you want to control that device...click the Add Selected Devices button. This will download the appropriate driver for that type of device.
Advanced networks:
Click on the Advanced Options button from the Device Inventory page. Here you can add additional network subnets that your system might have access to. So, let's say that myServer controller is on 192.168.1.216. You can add 192.168.2.0 to have Discovery also search the 2.X subnet. Certainly this will take twice as long as you would then be searching across two subnets.
For more advanced networks, you might also have VLANs defined on your network switches to isolate device connectivity to member devices only. Allonis uses "VLAN5" for digital audio products...and "VLAN20" for digital video over IP products. At the bottom of the page, you can have myServer Discovery look thru those defined VLANs that myServer is ALSO a member of. myServer's CreateVLANS command automatically adds these VLANs to the myServer controller's network settings (Raspberry Pi only).
The Advanced Inventory Options also has a "Look for orphaned L3 network switches" option...this automatically adds additional IP addresses on the three subnets that Allonis switches can be set for by default. Once myServer is on that subnet, you can go to the switches default IP address to configure that switch.
The above options can significantly decrease the time for a professional Allonis installation to ensure myServer is the most cost effective professional system on the market.
