About

Driver to control the Samsung Smart TVs (via ethernet)

Software Requirements

  • myServer
  • Samsung Tizen Driver
  • Supported Hardware
  • Samsung TV

How to Install the Samsung driver on myServer

  • Purchase the AV Family license from Allonis
  • Shutdown myServer5
  • Run myInstaller Installation on your myServer PC
  • If you are connected to the Internet, you should see the Samsung driver listed in the AV category. Select and download it.
  • After the driver is downloaded, click to install it.
  • Restart myServer

Hardware Setup

  • To enable control of the Samsung Tizen TV from Allonis's software, you must first make a change within the Samsung menu system.
  • 1) Enable remote control in the TV settings.
    2) Get the IP Address and Mac Address of the TV.
    3) Allow the driver to access the TV when prompted.
  • Communication to the TV is via WebSockets on port 8002 if you have a firewall in the middle that requires opening the port.

Add the TV in family manager so it looks something like the following:

The TV is powered on by sending a Wake On Lan broadcast packet. Make sure you enter the MAC address on your TV into the description field like shown  (make sure you are using the WiFi Mac for a Wifi connection, and not the ethernet MAC)  Note:  Use LOWER case letters in the MAC if you have trouble with Wake On Lan.

The driver will also gather the list of apps installed on the TV. You can then directly launch the app using the driver Launch command. e.g. AV|12~Launch~<<appID>>. You will see a series of server variables being created for all the apps with the app name and unique id.

All the standard remote buttons are supported. Command Builder will list the current commands. Note: not all commands are supported on all TVs. The driver has been tested to work on a 2018 Samsung QLED TV and a UN43NU6900F inexpensive TV.

Supported Commands

Here is the list of all known Samsung keyCodes. You can experiment to see which ones work on your TV by using the drivers "Test" command.

For example if you wanted to see if the KEY_HDMI1 was supported try the command AV|<id>~Test~KEY_HDMI1

You can do the same for all the following. Let us know which ones work for you and I'll add them into the core commands.
