UPB Driver Installation

Welcome to UPB Driver Installation

The UPB Lighting Driver is Allonis's application that provides a 2 way real time integration with an UPB lighting controller within your myServer user interface.

System Requirements

    • myServer5
    • Lighing Family App
    • Working UPB controlled lighting system
    • UPB hub connected to myServer (via USB or Serial cable)



  • Install the latest version of myServer from myInstaller
  • Install the latest version of the UPB driver and the Lighting Family
  • Install the UPB lighting switches
  • Pair the switches and create lighting scene-links with the UPB PLM using the UpStart software.  Note: to get a UPB device into Learn Mode, press it's button 5 times in quick succession.  To cancel Learn Mode, again click twice quickly in Succession.
  • Export the configuration using the UpStart software of your defined, paired lighting devices.  The .upe file is the export file that the UpStart program creates when to choose to export the configuration. myServer can import that file and recreate all your lighting family devices automatically.
  • If you are using a USB PLM, install the PLM driver software.  Note the com port it is installed to.
  • Connect the PLM to the serial port or USB port of myServer PC
  • Update the UPB Driver with your UPB PLM's com port.  Ensure no other applications are communicating to the PLM at the same time as myServer.
  • Type in the network ID and password on the Settings tab.  When you import your UPB system map into myServer a couple of critical values need to be added:
    • Network ID
    • Network Password
  • In myServer click on Device Drivers
  • Then double click the line that contains your UPB driver
  • A dialogue box will appear where you can input these parameters.
  • To find your Network ID and password enter UpStart and double click on one of your devices. (note, you cannot run Upstart AND myServer at the same time as they will both attempt to connect via the comport to the PLM).
  • These parameters can be found under the ID tab.
  • Restart myServer
  • In the Lighting Family, select UPB from the import sources and browse to your completed UpStart programming file that the PLM controller was loaded with.
  • You should see all of your UPB lighting loads having been created in the Lighting Family as well as an entry for the PLM Controller and it's UPB address (required).
  • If you don't have a UpStart file, you can manually click a paired UPB switch and observe the UPB Driver's event log.  You should see an "Undefined" switch and it's address ("xx.yy.zz").  Manually enter this address as a new device in the Lighting Family Manager.  You should only have to configure the switch that is turning the load on and off and not Slave switches.
  • Manually add the UPB PLM's address as a Controller type in the Lighting Family Manager.



1) Open the Lighting web page on your server
2) You should see your Lighting Family defined Areas. Click one and you should see your UPB defined lighting loads. Click a control. Enjoy!


error at line #680: Occurs because the UBP network id is blank or invalid. Go into the driver and on the settings tab enter the Network ID and Password for the UPB network. The Network ID value is critical as all UPB commands need to send to the correct network.
