I still can't get this thing to work

Are you clicking the HOME hard button? That is what navigates you back to the home page to select "AppleTV" or "LGTV". I just did it remotely on your system and it worked fine.

The Home hard button was doing nothing. It seems like the past 2 times you have accessed it the remote whatever you are doing is changing the way the remote behaves. Earlier I had nothing showing on the Shield screen then you logged in and it was working. Nothing I pressed including hard buttons took me out of the Shield. Then you log in again and now it is on the home screen.

I spoke too soon. I took the remote off the charger (it has over 50% charge) pressed the Shield button and it says Shield at the top and there are no channel buttons. At the bottom of the screen there are three boxes. The first says "J" the second is a picture of a house and the third says "menu" but is cut off and says "men". Pressing the Home hard button does nothing. The remote seems unresponsive but the screen does wake when I touch it. This is basically what happens every time I have tried the remote except the previous time when the Shield worked.

not sure, it's working for us remotely. I did just put Shield into Unknown room, deleted any Shield related macros, put shield back into 4th floor room and tested and icons are populating fine. So, it should be working.

Rereading this whole thread, AppleTV has been suggested to configure it with the documentation which still has not been done.  I would recommend deleting any drivers / macros that you aren't using or aren't setup correctly.  Add it when you have the time to do it step by step following the documentation.

I think we were using the Shield when you were in there. There were random button presses happening. The Shield channels are back on the screen.

I just tried the hard Home button again and it does not do anything.

I will delete the Apple TV and re add it after sorting out the other stuff.

Quick press on Home. Maybe you are reallllly long pressing Home button which sets NUM mode (not Home navigation). I upgraded the template (put your old ones in the backup directory), and "F5" the equivalent of pressing the Home button works every time. I already deleted AppleTV configuration for you to get rid of the noise in the system.

If this Home thing continues, I will have to be online while you press the hardware home button while I watch the log.

I have tried the quick press, the long press, the double tap and many other combos.
