I have a rackmount MyServer. All of the TV Eco modes are off, and the TV is always shows on the network from my router. It is a direct Cat 6 wired connection with a static IP assigned by my router (Ubiquiti Unifi Dream Machine SE) and Unifi switches.

My TV is not staying off the network after a restart. Rather, MyServer appears unable to reestablish a good connection if it is dropped by the TV during a restart. This is fixed by rebooting MyServer which reestablishes a good bidirectional connection. I'm not sure what changed after the firmware update, but this is 100% repeatable behavior.

This problem started for both of us when we upgraded the firmware, which involved a restart.

I downloaded the new driver and it seems like it attempts to reconnect if it loses a connection, but it isn't always successful. Here are the logs from turning on/off another TV that's working properly, then turning on the problematic Theater TV, restarting it from the TV menu, and then trying to turn it on again: Note that at the beginning of the log I haven't restarted MyServer and it isn't receiving feedback from the TV but it is controlling it.

From what I see, restarting MyServer reestablishes a good connection to the TV every time. For some reason if the connection is dropped after a TV restart and MyServer isn't restarted, the Sony TV driver seems unable to re-establish a good connection. Sometimes MyServer is able to transmit commands to the TV successfully but not receive feedback. Other times a Toast message pops up saying the command was transmitted, but nothing in the log indicates the command was sent and the TV doesn't respond. Other times it just says disconnected and nothing happens.

For me, everything has been working again since my last post a few months ago.  The TV is now reporting that another firmware update is available.

I am reluctant to mess with it given all the problems I had last time.  Has anyone tried to do the Sony Firmware update?

I noticed that there has recently been a couple updates to the Sony TV driver and to MyServer.  Is this related to the new firmware?

not related to firmware. Adds TV channel status.
Like mentioned...we have thousands of Sony TVs using the old and today's driver. No known issues.
But there really isn't a good reason to upgrade firmware on a TV if it's just on / off that is being controlled...now if you are using it as a 'smart' TV, then yes.

FWIW, I updated the TV firmware and all is well.

I was having issues with HDMI dropouts for my new DirectTV box and Shield with my Marantz AV10 processor, but my Ugoos AM6b+ worked fine. During one of the firmware updates EARC got turned on. I turned it off, did the firmware update, and the dropouts are gone. Since I made two changes at the same time, I can't say for sure which one solved my dropout issue, but EARC would be my guess.
