How to import IR codes?

Another alternative is VNC, which will give you the same environment as logging into the Pi with a keyboard and monitor.  I prefer to run Wireshark and some other programs from the GUI environment.

I ran into the same scenario as the OP when I had to access the command line on the Pi and needed to hook up a monitor and keyboard.  While I was there, I added SSH and VNC and can now do everything remotely withTermius (SSH) and RealVNC Viewer.

Use the "sudo raspi-config" command from the terminal on the MyServer Pi.  Once in, select Option 2 "Interface Options," and options 1 and 2 will set up SSH and VNC.

Feature request for future SmartRemote : possibility to include an IR receiver and the ability to learn IR commands (for devices not in the Database and for which codes are not available). The Harmony's ability to do that was very helpful.

That Learn IR capability exists in the GlobalCache IP2IR.
The IP2IR is the recommended IR platform, even more so than the built in SmartRemote IR emitter.  More flexible, more reliable (hard wired IR), rack mountable etc.

Allonis is looking at other IR support means as well.
I doubt there will be an IR receiver built into the SmartRemote itself. Limited use, IR is secondary in general to IP, limited space in the hardware.

I see there is an option to import an IR File in myserver. I have a file of HDfury codes (from them)...how does the file need to be formatted for it to work?

I'd also be interested in this for the future but if you don't need a ton of commands it might just be less hassle to copy/paste the relevant ones.
