MyDesigner Crashes when Adding Overlay

That won't make a difference.  Anything with a \ is a Windows path, and is not case sensitive.  Linux is case sensitive, but only uses /.

This problem is fixed but I would like to understand it better, hence my question.  If he can add overlays using \\192.168.0.65\myServer in settings why can't I do it using 
\\192.168.10.252\myServer ?   I suspect the answer is "no" but not sure.

When you mapped the network drive, did it prompt you for a username and password?

When you enter a path in the form of \\<server>\<share>, it is evaluated on-the-fly.  MyDesigner doesn't seem to do any checking or error trapping, so any number of problems could have resulted in the crash.

When you map the network drive, windows negotiates with the other machine and sets up the connection, so it will "just work" for any Windows program.

I have a really old copy of Quicken, that will not do a backup to a network share.  But if I map the network share to a drive letter, Quicken thinks it is a local drive, and the backup works.

It did not ask for a username and password.   I have no idea what they even are.
