Smartremote is locked up only showing "Fastboot mode" in the lower left corner of the screen. Does not respond to any key including side power button.

That's a new one.
Hold the Power button on the right side a long time.
that should reboot the device.
I logged in and the SmartRemote was not on the network.
How did it get to that state?
Worse case, let the battery die and then recharge it if for some reason a long press doesn't restart it.
I upgraded Linux on your myServer, but that has nothing to do with the situation you see.

was it on charge overnight?
If not, then maybe it died a slow battery death overnight.
A reboot / recharge should resolve.

Long press worked. I tried long press earlier but guess it wasn't long enough.

It was working last night when I put it back on the charger. I keep it on the charger when not in use.
