NVIDIA Shield Latency

Ok, I just updated to the latest myServer version (seems like a version was released today?) and now it's working!

Just got around to testing this on the smartremote. Works great! Very low latency. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Can anyone who has one of these tell me if when you hold a direction button on the smartremote does it repeat sending the direction command until you let go of the button, and more importantly could you tell me if it stops sending the command immediately when you let go of the button?

It would also be helpful if you could tell me which VideoStorm device and which streaming device you are using. I am trying to solve an issue with the SmartRemote and my Nvidia Shield and any info you could provide would be beneficial in helping me determine if I need to purchase a couple of these.

I'm using Video Storms IRUSB: USB IR TX plus uWave motion trigger on my 2017 Nvidia Shield TV Pro. When holding a direction button on the Smart Remote, it continuously sends commands until released. Once released it stops immediately (no overshoot). It replicates the OEM Bluetooth remote. I have the Kodi App on my Shield and a few hundred movies on my NAS. I'm able to scroll through the movie titles without delay or overshoot. Feels like I'm using the OEM remote. Hope this helps.

I do find that they send out the IrUSB at least in the US in a fairly large box, it could be a tiny envelope....

It's a shipping quote direct from their website. And sadly nobody seems to sell them in the UK or EU. A freight forwarder is an idea - I might try that if my homebrew wifi keyboard doesn't pan out.

By the way, it looks like everyone has the same problem with ADB control of Android streamers. Here's a video comparing the Crestron ADB based driver for a FireTV versus IRUSB.

Now I've got my smartremote hardware I've knuckled down and made my own home brew IP to keyboard gadget (since I don't want to spend $160 just on shipping for a VideoStorm IRUSB). It uses a Wiznet w5500-evb-pico board ( docs.wiznet.io/Product/iEthernet/W5500/w5500-evb-pico ) and a USB on the go adapter to plug it in to my Amazon FireTV stick. The difference in response time is significant.

I've put the source code for the gadget here:  github.com/andrewmk/IP-keyboard . It's a mashup of several 'rubber ducky' type hacking tools that let you remotely control a PC but they were all WiFi based and I wanted one that used ethernet for reliability.
