How goes Harmony Hub implementations?

- Customised screen layout, icons, options for each device and activity (ie via mydesigner).

- The ability to map other devices to buttons or screen icons when in an activity (ie when I load up the activity 'watch a movie', harmony turns on the projector, lowers the screen, sets amp to correct input, sets controls to my plex-box, uses the amp as the audio device for volume etc etc) - all great, but perhaps I want to map a totally different device (say light) to the three dots on the remote (button 6) so that I can have a one press for on/off for lights. Can I do that?


It may well be that all of the above is resolvable/implementable by me, but I've not yet worked out how to do it.

Long term, I want to get a IP2IR and replace Harmony entirely, but for now I need good Harmony integration as IR is the interface for the vast majority of my equipment.

Am making small gains every day, but would still love to make this entirely 'mine' - I feel as if I have a lot of knowledge to acquire! Thanks again.

Yes, everything on the user interface is 100% customizable. Our goal was to provide a user interface out of the box that is functional and relatively intuitive. Once you gain familiarity then you are free to do anything you want. Use the samples as examples and you're free to roll your own.

Many thanks.  I can see how to personalise page / hard button setup for the generic device page and the generic activity page.  If it is possible to create custom setups for specific devices and specific activities, can you point me to the best place in the support docs to learn how to do so?

PS - still getting repeat button presses (2 or 3) - am on the absolutely latest versions of the drivers and templates (as of circa two hours ago).

I see a myserver update. is it okay to install? I can't imagine you are still looking at the logs!

Making progress slowly - currently wrestling with the following main issues with Harmony:

1. Repeat button presses.  This issue continues and is not yet sorted.  Up / Down / Left / Right etc repeat.  It appears there is one button press (pause) and then two more in very quick succession.  Some devices seem to ignore the second quick presses but some register two or three presses.  My cable box is for example partly unusable.  The behaviour is strange in that it appears to work fine in main menus, but if I load up netflix (for example) the netflix app cannot be navigated as I can only move in twos. 

2. Volume control - Short button presses work but to change the volume significantly, numerous short presses are required.  Obviously the more natural thing to do is keep the volume button pressed until correct volume reached.  However long presses cause numerous volume presses to cache.  These continue after the button is released.  Therefore the volume continues to slowly increase or decrease for a period after the button is released.  This can result in my volume hitting max unless I turn the amp off.  Not pleasant.  My work-around (which does work perfectly) is to use the amp's direct IP control just for volume - that works absolutely as expected.  But that is a workaround not a fix.

3. Creation of custom pages / overlays etc for individual Harmony devices / activities.  I am experimenting with creating custom pages / button layouts for individual activities.  How do I find a full list of the available commands for a particular device / activity so I can build macros and associate with buttons?  The Dashboard / Harmony Command Testing does not seem to list all commands.  (The standard Harmony overlay list a very large number of commands which I want to utilise).  To do this myself is it the 'press' command?  And if so do I lift the wording from the standard Harmony overlay?  The only option in the command tester itself is the generic 'command name' without the available commands specifically listed.


If I could get on top of the above that would significantly assist.  As I say, I am making slow but steady progress...
