Working backlight ETA?

Has there been any progress on the backlight being addressed? Last night we were watching a movie we've been waiting awhile to see and the wife went to turn the volume up halfway through and she accidentally pressed the back button instead. It might not have been such a big deal but Amazon didn't remember the point where we left off so she had to futz around manually scrubbing through to find the spot where we left off.

My wife is generally pretty laid back but at the time she was righteously pissed. She let me know exactly what she thought about the remote situation, and I thought for a second that she was going to throw the remote at my brand new tv. I get it that it's a silly situation to get all worked up over, but something's gotta give here soon. I can deal with ME being annoyed, but I really don't want to deal with HER being annoyed.

I've kept the remote out of my family's hands due to the power management/lighting issue.  Battery life sucks, sorry, but it is what it is.  Turning it off with the side button and awakening the remote is hit or miss with the next button press working (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and needs a second push).  It's really basic behavior to have a working backlight and a remote that auto-dims properly (power management).  Having the battery down to ~20% after 3hrs is not acceptable.  Our URC remotes (color screens) are out of the charger at 9:00am and go back on around midnight and barely show any battery used.  Between the kids and the extended family, someone is almost always watching or doing something on the TV or listening to Music.  

I don't have nearly that bad of a battery drain on mine. I tried it last night and still had 75% after a two and half hour movie. I do have the screen brightness almost all of the way down though, otherwise it's just too bright in the dark theater. Not sure if the screen is what's causing your high battery drain but maybe try lowering the brightness and see if that helps at all.

Thanks. It's worth a shot. Tonight after 3hrs, I'm down to 50%. I hope they can get the power management sorted quickly.

Another thing that can cause power drain is a weak wifi signal. Or constantly switching between two different APs.

Wifi is rock solid. My display brightness was set to 50% but the Adaptive Brightness setting is turned on. I was hoping that with the AB setting, it would dim it a lot at night.
